Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted AstraZeneca a 180-day extension for its use of the Ventolin HFA/Albuterol HFA (Ventolin HFA) product. The 180-day extension will begin on July 1, 2013 and will run until August 1, 2013. The extended period of exclusivity has been determined for three of the products and will be effective for 180 days after the last release date.
"Ventolin HFA is a powerful medication used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The long-acting reversible-relief formulation of Ventolin HFA provides long-lasting relief from bronchospasms and relieves exercise-induced bronchospasm," said Sidney Wolfe, MD, director of the Public Citizen Health Research Group.
